Fareway Stores, Inc. will be coming to Brandon.

The Iowa-based grocer has purchased property on the NE corner of W. Holly Boulevard and Lancer Avenue in Brandon. Fareway plans to construct an approximately 21,000-square-foot store.

“Local residents may be familiar with Fareway, but we look forward to serving them with a full-service, neighborhood grocery store in Brandon,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer in a statement. “We are excited to join the community and want to thank those responsible for helping make this project possible.”

Fareway has two stores in Sioux Falls.

The Brandon location will be part of the Encore Park development, which is designed to include apartments and a manufacturing facility for a modular construction division from developer Hegg Companies.

“We think Fareway Meat and Grocery is a wonderful and exciting addition to the city of Brandon and the chosen location will be a perfect fit for the neighborhood and planned developments coming to Encore Park,” said Hegg Companies president/CEO Paul Hegg.

The Brandon story will offer a full-service butcher counter, to-your-car carryout, self-service checkout options, online shopping and curbside pickup.

“The City of Brandon is excited about the new businesses being brought to the Encore Park Development,” said Mayor Harry Buck. “The expansion of retail options, workforce housing for our residents, and new job opportunities in both the retail and industrial sectors are welcome additions to our community.

Fareway has started the public process and construction is planned to begin following area improvements. Fareway said more details about the project will be announced.
