Aragonese citizens are increasingly aware of caring for the environment through habits such as the separation of waste for subsequent recycling.Proof of this is that, according to the study “Habits of the Spanish Population regarding recycling”, carried out by the Catchment Institute for Ecoembes, 87.5% of the Aragonese respondents declare that they have a space in their home to deposit the containers in the yellow bucket (plastic containers, cans and briks). Thus, Aragonese households have an average of three buckets or bags (more specifically, 3.2) in which to separate waste and give it a second life through recycling.Taking into account sociological reasons, the report reflects that the separation of waste is a very widespread habit in the community in all age groups. However, the example in terms of recycling is given by adults aged between 35 and 54 years (89.7%).Next are the youngest from 16 to 24 years old (87.3%) and the seniors over 55 years old (86.9%).At the bottom, although with a majority of recyclers, are the group of citizens between 25 and 24 years old, with 83.1% of regular recyclers.“The results of this study are a reflection of how recycling is a habit that has been established in Aragonese society for many years and with which citizens put their environmental commitment into practice. These data allow us to look to the future with enthusiasm and optimism, and push us to continue working to take firm steps towards the circular economy, betting on recycling to make our planet a better world", said Jorge Serrano, manager of Ecoembes in Aragon. As for the social group most aware of recycling in Aragon, the separated are the group most committed to the separation of household waste (100%), closely followed by widowers (95.8%) and those with a stable partner ( 87.1%).On the other hand, taking into account the family unit, people who live alone are the most committed (92.6% compared to 87.5% on average).Regarding gender, women are a few points above men.Specifically, 90.5% of Aragonese women claim to have more than one space at home to separate and dispose of waste, and one of them is destined for the yellow container.A figure that in the case of men stands at 84.4%.The results of the study also conclude that society has fewer and fewer doubts when it comes to depositing waste in the appropriate container. Thus, 91% of the Aragonese respondents say they are clear about the blue container. In the case of yellow, Aragonese citizens more clearly identify plastic bottles, tubs, briks and cans with this container, while there is other waste, such as aerosols and aluminum trays or wrappers, which must also be deposited in this container but that still raise doubts.News Media SL NIF.B-99155533, San Félix 7, 2° 50003-Zaragoza Phone: 976 393 199 Manager: Roberto García Bermejo
